LGBTQIA+ Care

Too often, when LGBTQ people seek therapy, they face unnecessary barriers that get in the way of their care. Sometimes that’s outright prejudice or hostility. Sometimes it’s ignorance, obliviousness, or assumptions that leave lasting scars. Sometimes it’s just yet another person expecting you to answer their curious questions or give them an introduction to “what it’s like” to be someone with your identity. No one should have to be doing that work in their therapy or swallowing their response to a therapist once again misgendering them, asking “how they know” who they are.

Your identity matters in therapy to whatever extent it matters to you. If you have questions about your sexuality or gender that you want to explore, this is a space to do that. If you need support around barriers to gender-affirming care, homophobic/ transphobic attitudes from friends or family, we can focus there. If you’re coming to therapy for something entirely unrelated to your sexuality and gender, and want to just be able to talk about your life without feeling weird about mentioning your partner/s or showing up in a particular set of clothes, that’s what we’ll do. All of who you are is welcome here.
